Title of Artwork: Alluring Grace

Description: The artwork depicts an oriental display of the Paeonia Rockii (or Mu Dan flower), symbolizing power, wealth, and beauty. As the poem was made long ago, the painting follows an olden feel that captures the older eras in Chinese history.

Calligraphy Background: The poem was written by Xu Ning from the Tang dynasty.  It is a praise of the peony (牡丹), often regarded as the “king of flowers” in Chinese culture. It symbolizes wealth, nobility, femininity, and beauty. The poet uses mythology and imagery to elevate the flower's allure.

English Translation:
Who does not love the peony’s grace?
It claims the city’s finest place.
One might think she's the goddess of Luo, divine,
With countless charms that outshine morning's shine.
